If you've purchased TAK access, an admin issues your credentials from the TAK Certs panel. You'll be sent a .zip file (named like yourname-tak.zip) along with two passwords: a cert password (to import your certificate/data package) and a login password (to authenticate to the server itself). Keep both — you'll need them below.
Don't have your zip and passwords yet? Reach out through Service Request or however you normally contact the admin — access is issued manually per user.
On Android (ATAK)
- Install ATAK from the TAK Product Center or your provided APK source.
- Transfer the
.zipfile onto the device (email it to yourself, use a USB cable, or a file-sharing app). - Open ATAK, go to the hamburger menu → Import, and select the
.zipfile. - When prompted for the certificate password, enter the cert password you were given.
- Once imported, go to Settings → Network Connections and confirm the server connection was added automatically — enable it if it isn't already connecting.
- If prompted separately to log in, use your username and the login password.
On Windows (WinTAK)
- Install WinTAK.
- Open WinTAK's Import Manager and point it at the same
.zipfile. - Enter the cert password when prompted to unlock the certificate.
- Confirm the server connection appears under network settings and is enabled.
Troubleshooting
- Import fails / wrong password: double check you're using the cert password, not the login password — they're different on purpose.
- Connects then immediately drops: your cert may not have finished provisioning yet, or your account may need to be re-issued — ask the admin to check the TAK Certs log.
- No data showing: confirm the connection is enabled (not just imported) under network settings, and that you have a working internet connection to reach the server.
